- Topic(s):
- Public Health
Unique among Institute of Medicine (IOM) components, the Health Policy Educational Programs and Fellowships (HPEPF) office serves as the program office for national health policy fellowship programs--the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Health Policy Fellows program, the IOM/American Nurses Foundation (ANF)/American Academy of Nursing (AAN) Distinguished Nurse Scholar in Residence program, and the Norman F. Gant/American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) Fellowship.
The RWJF Health Policy Fellows program provides an opportunity for outstanding mid-career health professionals to gain an understanding of the health policy process, to contribute to the formulation of new policies and programs, and to develop in their careers as leaders in academic health centers and in health policy.
The IOM/ANF/AAN Distinguished Nurse Scholar in Residence program is designed to assist outstanding nurse leaders to play a more prominent role in health policy development at the national level. The program seeks individuals who have the capacity and skills to bring issues of special interest in nursing to greater public understanding and policy attention.
The Norman F. Gant/ABOG Fellowship is named in honor of Norman F. Gant, M.D., a member of the IOM and the executive director of ABOG. The fellowship is designed to provide an exceptional learning and career development opportunity to obstetricians and gynecologists early in their careers.
