 The Institute of Medicine's Food Forum held a 1-day workshop on the impact of nanotechnology on food science, nutrition, and the consumer. The workshop explored applications of nanotechnology for use in foods and targeted delivery of nutrients into the human body; safety and efficacy of foods and food products enhanced or modified with nanotechnology; societal and policy issues involved in the use of nanotechnology in foods; and consumer concerns and consumer education efforts.

 The workshop covered  three primary topic areas:

  • Application of Nanotechnology to Food Products
  • Safety and Efficacy of Nanomaterials in Food Products
  • Educating and Informing Consumers about Applications of Nanotechnology to Food Products
