ELECTION INFORMATION (for non-members)
Only Institute of Medicine members may nominate individuals for membership, and the nomination form can be requested only by members. The 2008 cycle will begin November 1, 2007 with nominations due by February 1, 2008. The election will take place in late-2008, with new members announced in October.
The membership criteria for the Institute of Medicine are noted below.
Membership in the Institute shall be based upon
distinguished professional achievement in a field related to medicine and health;
demonstrated and continued involvement with the issues of health care, prevention of disease, education, or research;
skills and resources likely to contribute to the Institute's tasks of assessing current knowledge, conducting studies, and considering policy issues; and
willingness to be an active participant in the Institute.
