The IOM convened a half-day public symposium on 11 August 2004 to bring together representatives of U.S. and Iraqi agencies and international organizations that have been working to reconstruct Iraq's healthcare system.
The meeting addressed topics including progress reports on what has been accomplished during the past year, lessons that have been learned from this process, and prospects for future improvements in Iraqi healthcare following the recent transition to self-government. Talks incorporated experiences and perspectives from the different agencies that have been involved in this process and included broader lessons for relief and reconstruction efforts in other parts of the world.
